Juilliard's 119th commencement ceremony will take place on May 24 at 11:30am at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall. The ceremony will honor more than 325 students graduating from the music, dance, and drama divisions, as well as bestow honorary doctorate degrees upon distinguished artists. Among the honorees are Carolyn Adams, Jessica Chastain, the Emerson String Quartet, and Tania León.

President of Juilliard, Damian Woetzel, expressed his excitement about the upcoming event, stating, "We look forward to celebrating the class of 2024, which represents the bright future of music, dance, and drama." Woetzel highlighted the significance of honoring the careers of these exceptional artists, all of whom have made remarkable contributions to the arts.

Carolyn Adams, a former principal dancer with the Paul Taylor Dance Company, will be recognized for her outstanding work in dance and education. Jessica Chastain, an Academy Award-winning actor and producer, will be honored for her remarkable achievements in film, television, and theater. The Emerson String Quartet, a renowned ensemble with nine Grammy Awards, will be acknowledged for their excellence in classical music. Tania León, a Pulitzer Prize-winning composer, will be celebrated for her significant contributions to the music scene.

The commencement ceremony will also feature a Commencement Concert conducted by Marin Alsop, a prominent figure in the world of music. The concert, scheduled for May 23 at 6pm at Alice Tully Hall, will showcase the Juilliard Orchestra performing a program that includes a world premiere composition by Hilary Purrington, as well as works by Strauss and Bartók.

Overall, the 119th commencement ceremony at Juilliard promises to be a memorable event, honoring the achievements of talented graduates and distinguished artists alike.
